This piece comes from my experience with my past and how
I see my future now. When I was younger I would think how
bad, how challenging, my past was. However as I became a
woman I grew to have a different understanding of my past
and how it has helped me become who I am now. I also see
my future as bright and my past doesn't’t determine how my
future will unfold. So I came up with this piece. She is
anticipating a bright future and no longer needs to hold onto
her past in the negative sense. It can feel like your walking a
tight wire. It is all created within her perception.

Is part on my newest series of oil on
canvas? The boat is the journey, the water
the subconscious, and the
swimmer/Vulcan, the dreamer. The clouds
are both wings for transport and dream
content. This is so new I'm still learning
what they mean to me and are about.
I started this painting to be about
patience and then I began reading
“Animal & Vegetable Miracle” by
Barbara Kingsolver and saw this
painting change into Nature's
Quest - suggesting the patience
that nature has with us and our
quest to maintain balance
